About — 02

Origin / Philosophy

A repetition crisis is eating fashion and beauty alive.

Walk down any high street, scroll any feed you will see: wordmark in Söhne, beige palette, gradient mesh, founder story in 11pt. The brands that paid the most to be distinctive end up indistinguishable.

Counter Agency started because someone had to name the problem and build the machinery to escape it. We don't run pitches. We run workshops.

"Distinction isn't a style. It's a refusal — practised every week, defended every quarter, rebuilt every year."

THE STUDIO FOUNDER

Yelyzaveta Manzheley

Founder

I'm Yelyzaveta Manzheley, a graduate of fashion school whose days revolve around visual work — moodboards, brand assets, presentations. At some point I noticed something uncomfortable: everything my classmates and I created was quietly shaped by the same trends and feeds. We weren't copying each other — we were all copying the algorithm.

I'd always pushed hard against that, yet kept hitting a wall I couldn't explain. That frustration pulled me into the psychology of attention and creativity — why certain things stand out while others dissolve into the scroll. What I found became Counter Agency and The Brain Hacker.

Turns out the answer wasn't "be more creative." It was "understand yourself better."

Framework — 03

The Counterpoint Method

Six principles that pull a brand out of the herd.

01

Audit your defaults

Designers inherit visual habits. Strip them out. What remains is a brand that actually belongs to you.

02

Refuse the reference

Mood boards are graveyards of someone else's ideas. Start from a psychological tension, not a Pinterest grid.

03

Design the friction

The thing that makes someone pause for half a second is the thing they remember for a month.

04

Find the counterpoint

Every category has a default. Learn it well enough to know exactly where to break it.

05

Make it inarguable

A distinctive system isn't a matter of taste. It can be defended in a sentence and survive a thousand applications.

06

Hold the line

Most brands die from a thousand small concessions. The framework gives you something to point at when the pressure to blend in arrives.
